Two men have been convicted of murder in the death of Run-D.M.C. star Jam Master Jay. The brazen 2002 shooting left investigators at a loss for nearly two decades. An anonymous Brooklyn federal jury delivered the verdict Tuesday in the trial of 40-year-old Karl Jordan Jr. and 59-year-old Ronald Washington. Jordan was the rap star鈥檚 godson. Washington was an old friend who was bunking at the home of the DJ鈥檚 sister. Both men were arrested in 2020 and pleaded not guilty. Jay was gunned down in his studio Oct. 30, 2002. Authorities were deluged with tips, rumors and theories but struggled to get witnesses to open up.

Courtroom testimony by an independent gun expert is casting new doubt on Alec Baldwin鈥檚 account that his gun went off without pulling the trigger in the fatal shooting of a cinematographer during a 2021 rehearsal on the set of the Western movie 鈥淩ust.鈥 A demonstration Tuesday by the arms expert supports evidence that the gun would not fire without depressing the trigger. Baldwin has pleaded not guilty to involuntary manslaughter with a trial scheduled for July in the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. 鈥淩ust鈥 armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed is currently on trial for her possible role in the death, pleading not guilty to charges of involuntary manslaughter and tampering with evidence.

The Smokehouse Creek Fire has more than doubled its size since it sparked Monday.
